William Knight I remember when this album was new. Pretty different from their subsequent work in that there is a lot more black metal influence (not just in harsh vocals but also in the blast beats and tremelo picked guitar lines). But the other elements that make this one of the most underrated bands in metal are all there - the folk influences, the trad metal riffs, the songwriting that is both tight and inventive, the true progressive spirit.

Arctic Wizard An excellent blend of Trad, Doom, and Black Metal wrapped up in an opera of vengeance.

9/10 would recommend. Favorite track: Tyrant Dies.

Mars I can't describe how much I love this album. It's an absolutely brilliant blend of heavy metal, black metal, and doom that takes in fantasy themes in such a brilliant confluence of mood, story, and instrumentation. I based an entire D&D campaign off of this album because of how vivid it is. Favorite track: An Oath Sworn In Hell.

last vinyl before doomsday Why do I love this album? Because "An Oath Sworn in Hell" is one of the greatest songs of the past 25 years, and the rest of the album follows suit. Hammers of Misfortune is amazing progressive trad metal madness. Favorite track: An Oath Sworn In Hell.

N. Lord This album showcases a knack for storytelling through its use of both lyrics and leitmotifs. If the album art has already grabbed your attention, like it did mine, prepare to have your expectations met, and then surpassed! Favorite track: For The Ax.
